We had a great day at Barleylands Farm.
The weather remained dry until we boarded the coach back to school.
The weather remained dry until we boarded the coach back to school.
On our arrival, we listened to the story of The Gingerbread Man. We have already been learning about this traditional tale at school, so we were able to join in with the repetitive phrase 'Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man'.
We found out that some of the ingredients for making a gingerbread man are produced at the farm. We were amazed how wheat can be ground to make flour!
We made our own gingerbread men. It was a lovely treat when we returned to school.
As the sun shone, we enjoyed a picnic.
We got front row seats to watch the 'Lamb National'.
Six brightly coloured sheep raced around a track, jumping over hurdles.
Sadly, the pink sheep named Baarbie came last.
We had some spare time after lunch, so we visited the Blasting Balls.
The children showed excellent teamwork and turn-taking.
In the afternoon, we visited the animals on the farm.
We enjoyed feeding some of the animals and remembered to wash our hands after.
We found a carrot growing on the farm!
The day ended with a bumpy tractor ride.
We had a fun day and were worn out by the time we went back home.
Well done to all the Reception children who showed excellent behaviour during our day out.
